 Costa Rica Sarapiqui Bus Schedule, Directions, Map

Getting here by bus, car or taxi  a couple of maps

1. BY CAR: Go on the Limon highway (Zurqui) toward Limon. After driving through the Braulio Carillo Nat. Park,look for the Puerto Viejo, Horquetas, turn off on the left.Turn there and drive all the way to the end. At the T, turn left and go 17 kilomenters more. You will find Rancho Leona on the left hand side.

2. BY CAR: (Scenic Drive) drive from San Jose to Heredia, take the road to Barva, keep going up the hill to Vara Blanca. Turn right at Vara Blanca by the filling station. Go downhill past the
water fall and all the way to San Miguel de Sarapiqui. At San Miguel the road turns left. Follow the road 14 kilometers to La Virgen. You will find Rancho Leona on the right hand side.

3. BY PUBLIC BUS: The public buses take the above routes. The Limon highway route leaves from LOS CARIBEÑOS bus terminal at:
6:30
7:30
10:00
and 11:30 A.M. and
1:30
2:30
3:30
4:30
and 6:00 P.M.

These buses take you to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui where you have to take another bus or a taxi ($5-6) to La Virgen. Be sure to buy your tickets to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui

The scenic route leaves you very close to, or at the door of Rancho Leona. It also leaves from the CARIBEÑOS bus terminal at:
6:30 A.M and
1:00 P.M.
and 5:30 P.M

Remind driver to leave you at Rancho Leona after about 3 hours Buy tickets to La Virgen de Sarpiqui, via Heredia or Vara Blanca. Rancho Leona will be on the right hand side.

4. FROM FORTUNA OR THE ARENAL LAKE BY BUS: If you are traveling from Fortuna or the Arenal Lake, you can take a bus From Fortuna to San Carlos and from San Carlos to La Virgen de
Sarapiqui.Rancho Leona will be on the right hand side.

5. FROM FORTUNA OR THE ARENAL LAKE BY CAR: Drive from Fortuna toward Muelle, to Aguas Zarcas. Turn left at Aguas Zarcas and keep going to San Miguel where the road turns left. Go 14 kilometers more and you will be in La Virgen de Sarapiqui. Rancho Leona will be on the right hand side.

7.FROM LIMON TO LA VIRGEN DE SARAPIQUI: Drive on the highway toward San Jose. After Guapiles Turn right at the Horquetas, Puerto Viejo turn off. Keep going to the end of the road. Turn left and go 17 more kilometers. Rancho Leona will be on the left hand side.

8: RANCHO LEONA BY TAXI FROM SAN JOSE. This costs about $80.00 USD or so, which is reasonable.
